Smart Gas Network with CubiTan®” Project is Selected for the “Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Initiative”

Atomis Inc. (Head office: Kobe City, Hyogo; Representative Director and CEO: Daisuke Asari) and Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Taito-ku, Tokyo, President: Tsutomu Takahashi) are pleased to announce that their Smart Gas Network project utilizing the next-generation high-pressure gas container CubiTan® has been selected for the “Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Initiative,” a program led by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

We will conduct a feasibility study (FS) across the ASEAN region, including Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, under this initiative to assess the viability of deploying Smart Gas Network utilizing CubiTan®. Through this project, we aim to address critical societal challenges in the region, such as decarbonization and energy security, by offering innovative solutions tailored to local needs.

The “Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Initiative” is a government-led support program designed to promote the expansion of Japanese companies’ infrastructure and technical cooperation in emerging and developing countries. <About CubiTan® >
CubiTan® is a next-generation high-pressure gas container characterized by its compactness, light weight, and smart (IoT) features.
CubiTan®,which was developed to solve the isuues of transportation and cost in high-pressure gas distribution, is compact and lightweight by using reinforced plastic for the container. The cube-shaped design enables stacking and contributes to improve transportation efficiency.
While conventional high-pressure gas cylinders need to be filled with gas at higher pressure to make them compact, CubiTan® successfully stores gas without increasing pressure by incorporating PCP/MOF as a gas adsorbent.
By incorporating an IoT system in addition to these features, CubiTan® aims to realize a smart distribution network, including inventory management, handling of orders received and placed, delivery status monitoring, and delivery route optimization.

Smart gas network is a system in which gas is distributed without pipelines and its usage is remotely monitored and managed through IoT devices.
CubiTan® will help optimize delivery, save resources, and improve user convenience by identifying remaining capacity.
